Meaning
Specialized ultra-low viscosity grout materials seal fine cracks and stabilize loose soils under concrete structures. Using microfine cementitious grout allows technicians to fill voids that are too narrow for standard portland cement mixes to penetrate. This material is injected under low pressure to restore subgrade support without lifting the overlying concrete slabs.
Material Properties
The mixture contains finely ground slag and cement particles with diameters under ten microns, which is significantly smaller than the particles in standard cement. This small size allows the grout to flow into hair-thin cracks and tightly packed sandy soils. It achieves high early strength and low permeability once cured.
These properties make it ideal for use in wet or marine environments.
Injection Technique
Technicians drill small ports through the concrete slab to access the underlying soil or voids. The grout is then pumped through these ports at a controlled pressure to prevent cracking the concrete. This process is monitored with dial gauges to ensure the grout is distributed evenly beneath the slab.
Long Term Stability
The cured grout forms a high-strength matrix that prevents soil erosion and water infiltration. This treatment stabilizes the foundation for many years. It prevents further settlement of the structure.
