Meaning
Ground engineering technique involving the injection of specialized resins or cements into empty spaces beneath a concrete floor to restore structural support. Sub slab void grouting is used to fix floors that have sunk or become unstable due to soil erosion or poor compaction. It fills the gaps without the need to remove and replace the entire slab.
Structural Reinforcement
Strengthening of the foundation occurs as the grout expands and hardens under the concrete. During sub slab void grouting, small holes are drilled in a grid pattern across the affected area to allow the material to reach every pocket of air. This process lifts the floor back to its original level and prevents further movement.
It is a faster and cleaner alternative to traditional underpinning.
Substrate Stability
Compression of the loose soil by the expanding grout creates a solid base for the building. Sub slab void grouting is often required in industrial warehouses where heavy machinery has caused the ground to settle over time. The repair allows the facility to remain operational.
Application Precision
Monitoring of the floor level with lasers ensures the lift is accurate to within a few millimetres. Sub slab void grouting requires a high level of skill. It is a permanent solution.
